It's been a while...

Hello! It's been well over a month since I began my raw vegan journey. I must say, going 100% raw is one of the best decisions I've made in my life. I've been experiencing a tremendous surge of energy and vitality coupled by a strong desire to live. Having suffered from clinical depression, I didn't think I can ever dream of nonchalant bliss again. Never say never.

I've been subsisting on alfalfa sprouts, vine ripe tomatoes, durians, blueberries, bananas, cherries, lychees, papayas, mellons, avocados, oranges, apples, carrots, kale, lettuce, beets, cucumbers, and limes. The fruitarian/raw vegan lifestyle is actually quite diverse; there are so many fruits and vegetables to choose from that I don't feel deprived at all. This lifestyle IS possible.

Undeniably, raw veganism can be socially challenging, but I believe that we should live our own philosophies and not let the greater society define what is acceptable.

Monday Update

I've been relatively tired lately, possibly from detoxification. My appetite has decreased and I've been sleeping a lot under the sun. I've also been reading a lot on the ethics of meat consumption and animal abuse as well as veganism and raw foodism. I have yet to digest my readings and formulate my own opinions. Maybe I'll have a future post on them.

I am quite liking my lifestyle change - becoming a raw vegan/fruitarian. I'm experiencing tremendous vitality, and it's only been a week. I can't imagine going back to processed/cooked food; I think of lethargy and toxification.

Today's intake:
3 mini mandarins
2 bananas
3 red naval oranges
1 zuchini (shredded) topped with 1 crushed tomato
and a teaspoon of red miso (& a sprig of scallion for garnish)
2 durian segments

The Journey Begins

Things are going great! I feel much better internally and emotionally - the fruit effect. I've been sticking with mono-meals consisting of mangos, naval oranges, and bananas, which are relatively inexpensive at the moment. Eating seasonal fruits is the rule of the thumb.

It's pretty hard to live in a house where the aroma of food infiltrates the air and entices you. My family is big on cooking; we rarely eat out. The sauteing of leafy greens is drawing my senses at the moment, but I'll get over it. I'm thinking of incorporating more greens in my diet and the first thing that comes to mind is sprouts. Sprouts are nutritionally dense and not taxing at all to the body. Mmmm...Alfalfa sprouts. Those are my favorite!

Upon waking, I felt surprisingly happy and content with my life. I haven't felt this way in so long. I truly believe that consuming a diet rich in fruits and plant matter can help detoxify your mind, body, and spirit.

Hello World!

My name is Clarise Tropicale, and I am a transitioning fruitarian. I followed a fruitarian diet for two years during my early teens, but fell off the track for personal reasons. As life and school became more demanding, I began making poorer choices and intoxicating myself with processed "foods." It's easy to buy into commercial products, especially when everyone around you is doing so. But now, I've gathered enough will power to start fresh as a raw foodist/fruitarian. I've given much thought to transitioning, spent a lot of time doing research and hearing personal stories of those in the raw food communities. Some of the people who have inspired me to turn my life around are fruitarians- Anne, Mango, Suvine, and Michael Arnstein. I have followed them over the years, read all their blog/vlog posts, and they are living proof of the power of fruits to help sustain a life of happiness, health, and aspirations.
